By the time that they get to that crucial 3rd trimester, most mothers-to-be are usually feeling a little tired, bloated and in need of a little special pampering. If you are planning a baby shower, it might be nice to plan one which will leave the mum-to-be feeling glowing, energised and ready to take on her new role. If this is the case, then a Spa-inspired baby shower is a lovely idea.

Book a Spa Treatment

There are a few ways this can be done. If the baby shower is being planned amongst close friends, then you could arrange to have a group session at a spa together. Maybe have your nails and a facial done together, or a relaxing massage.

If the party will involve a larger group, then you could book a prenatal massage session just for the mum-to-be. There are quite a few providers in Singapore, and some of them are in lovely settings such as gardens or greenery. Several offer specially designed massage beds to cater for mum’s growing baby bump so that her massage will be as customized and comfortable as possible. Then, whilst your guest of honour is getting pampered and refreshed, you can plan the baby shower at home.

Spa at Home

Choose a signature aromatherapy scent which you know that the mum-to-be likes. Fill your house with the scent using either aroma diffusers or candles. Place plenty of her favourite flowers on the table and coffee table. Order in, or prepare lots of fresh, light foods with a focus on fruits, teas and finger food– just something to settle the stomach after a spa treatment. Choose some relaxing music and play it softly in the background.

Ask guests to bring along 2 gifts – one for baby, and one for mum. Gifts for mum should have a spa treatment or pampering focus. Some ideas to get started with are pretty soaps, post-pregnancy massage oils, spa treatment packages, face masks, pretty nail polish sets, aromatherapy candles, lavender comfort pillows.
